Hello / Mom

Dear Kevin

We missed you at Thanksgiving and I made your favorite - pumpkin pie.  Jess and Jason were back and stopped by the grave to visit with you they miss you also.  We remember all those who have gone before us and also the people who are enduring pain sickness and personal troubles here on earth.  Please watch over them and pray for them.

There is a statue at the Military Building on UNL campus.  They dedicated it to all the Army graduates who have died in the war.  It is very nice; the Army boots with the gun and helmet.

Saturday is the Big 12 Championship Game in Dallas.  Nebraska will be playing Oklahoma.  GO BIG RED - I know that you will be there watching and cheering too.

As we get ready for the Holiday Season; let us remember to keep Christ in our hearts and peace in our souls.  God Bless!

Kev  a lot has happened.  We took a family vacation to the Black Hills and had a good time.  Of course we thought of you and the times you were with us.  Then Audrey starts college on Monday.  That will be exciting for her; so watch over her as you did throughout her high school years!  Katie and Ryan have had your truck; they decided it just wasn't right for them and we sold it to a farmer in the area.  It served its purpose but was bittersweet watching it go.  Fall is almost upon us and that means football games again.  Take care in heaven and watch over the guys overseas!

Love you

The storm in my heart  / Jen

SHOULDN'T
It shouldn’t have happened that way
Your name shouldn’t be on the bracelet I wear every day
I shouldn’t have to defend why I still love you
I shouldn’t know so much about this kind of pain

It shouldn’t bother me that people respond like they do
My life shouldn’t have taken this strange path
I shouldn’t fall to pieces on this day
I shouldn’t still wonder where we might be today

I shouldn’t say I was blessed to have you in my life
My heart shouldn’t be filled with two
Yet all of this is true and I know
You should have been here to talk me through

The first time I heard this song – I knew it’d still fit today 3 years later…

Who Knew   by: Pink
You took my hand you showed me how
You promised me you'd be around
Uh huh that's right

I took your words and I believed
In everything you said to me
Yeah huh that's right

If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong

I know better
Cause you said forever
And ever who knew?

Remember when we were such fools
And so convinced and just too cool
Oh no no no

I wish I could touch you again
I wish I could still call you a friend
I'd give anything

When someone said count your blessings now
For they're long gone
I guess I just didn't know how
I was all wrong

But they knew better
Still you said forever and ever
Who knew? Yeah yeah

I'll keep you locked in my head
Until we meet again
Until we until we meet again
And I won't forget you my friend
What happened?

If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong

And that last kiss I'll cherish
Until we meet again
And time makes it harder
I wish I could remember

But I keep your memory
You visit me in my sleep
My darling who knew?

My darling
My darling who knew?
My darling I miss you
My darling who knew?

Who knew?

I cherish all my memories of you Kevin. And as we said back then 'Love always'  -Jen

Kev I can't believe it has been three years. Last night it was raining like that awful day and it is supposed to do the same for the next few days. I think about you every day on my drive to school. Each year on this date is extremely hard. I know that you are in a better place and watching over and protecting us. I am going to visit you after school. You are my hero! Luv ya Molls Close

"Never Forgotten"  / Garnet/Sister To Sgt David Dickinson

To fallen soldiers let us sing
where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
to the mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
just divine embrace eternal light
in the mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard tho the angels sleep
All through the ages safely keep the mansions of the Lord

Kevin Been meaning to write about today but I knew you wouldn't want anything special in your honor.  You did a job that was  commanded of you and you did it well.  So in honor of that the American Legion Riders will be riding today to lay a wreath at your grave and Wayne Cornell.  I hope this will be a celebration that brings the sacrifices you both made to the forefront.  Not just by keeping your names out there; but reminding people what our troops are going through.  We can not have them forgotten!

My prayers are with you and all who have died at war.  Your sacrifices are not forgotten!

Happy Birthday Kevin  today we went out and visited the grave site it looks nice.  The grass is green and the tulips that Molly gave are planted and are coming up.  In fact there are two bulbs on them so in a few days they will open.  I miss your smile laughter and hugs!  If I close my eyes I can see you and I know that you are having a wonderful birthday in Heaven.  Take care and sending you my love through my prayers.

Hey Kevin

The girls didn't make it out of the first round at State Basketball; but they played well and have nothing to be ashamed about.  Now on to track.  Just think in a few short weeks you were home from leave and you were able to watch Audrey!  Keep with her give her "wings" to jump higher and speed to run faster!  Love you - you family

When Audrey was a freshmen and the girls made it to State in basketball you couldn't be there because you were over in Iraq.  Now the girls made it back to State with a win last night.  Audrey is a senior and you have been her guardian angel throughout these few years.  Guess what - this time you will be there watching the girls and cheering them on and you will have the best seat in the house :)  Go St. Cecilia Hawkettes!

Kevin - miss you but we also know in our hearts you are with us.  Love your family and friends

Kev thought of you all last week.  We went on a cruise with friends of ours.  We offered a toast to you and talked about your cruise with your friends.  Bet you had as much fun as we did.  I even got your dad to zip-line and we went snorkeling.  It was fun.  Wish you were there with us in person; but I know that you were there in spirit watching over us and even laughing with us.  Miss you and am sending my love to you!

Kevin-

I've been thinking of you so much lately (not that I have ever come close to stopping). Next weekend is the TAPS seminar at Ft Riley and I'm anxious and excited to share your memory with the other survivors I'll meet there. I know it will be a bittersweet time - I love finding others to relate to but I hate the circumstances. You know that you'll be on my mind a lot in the coming months... they were 'our months'. It's still so hard to not miss all the wonderful moments we shared back then. Take care up there and pray for all us down here.  Love ya always Jen
